Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mohua is a housewife who lives with her husband and in-laws, but her family is very poor and cannot afford the medical treatment or the surgery bill. At 37 weeks pregnant, she experiences severe abdominal pain and notices less movement from her baby. They go to a government hospital, but there are no doctors available for emergency surgery. Thanks to Helpster and Poly Clinic, she is admitted and has an emergency cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. A healthy baby is born, but the family needs to pay for the surgery, which they cannot afford. Without help to cover the bill, Mohua and her baby could face serious risks like fetal distress, birth complications, or even death. The family needs to pay for the surgery so Mohua can recover safely and her baby can grow healthy.

Medical history

Mohua experienced sudden severe abdominal pain and decreased fetal movement at 37 weeks of pregnancy, indicating fetal distress and labor complications. Due to breech presentation and lack of progress in labor, an emergency cesarean section was necessary to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. The surgery was successfully performed, resulting in the delivery of a healthy male baby, and Mohua received appropriate postoperative care. Now, she is recovering well and back to her normal life, with her family expressing heartfelt thanks to Helpster Charity and Narayanganj Polyclinic for their support.

Prognosis

The patient, Mohua, is over 37 weeks pregnant with labor pain and shows signs of fetal distress due to breech presentation. Breech presentation at term, particularly in primigravida, poses a higher risk of birth trauma, cord prolapse, and asphyxia during vaginal delivery. Decreased fetal movement is a potential sign of fetal hypoxia, and together with breech presentation, mandates urgent evaluation and likely planned cesarean for fetal safety.
