Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Soha Hossain is just 5 months old and lives with her family in a small tin shed house. Her family, including her father Foyez, a day laborer, and her grandparents who cannot work, only earn about 10,000 Taka a month. Soha has signs of a serious eye problem called Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), and without urgent anti-VEGF injection, she could go blind forever. They learned about Helpster from the hospital and need help quickly to save her sight.

Medical history

Soha Hossain, a 4-month-old infant, required urgent treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a serious condition that could lead to blindness if left untreated. She was treated with Anti-VEGF injections by Dr. Md Saiful Islam, the hospital's ROP specialist. The treatment progressed well, with the growth of abnormal blood vessels now under control and the retinal condition showing significant improvement. With continued care, there is strong hope that Soha will develop clear vision. Deepest thanks to Helpster Charity and the Helpster Heroes for their crucial support in helping Soha regain her sight. Thank You Note from Mother: Soha Hossain’s mother, Sanjida Begum, expressed her heartfelt thanks to Helpster for supporting her daughter’s treatment. She shared how worried the family was about Soha's vision and how grateful they are for the timely help. “Helpster gave our daughter a chance to see the world,” she said emotionally. “We are forever thankful for your support and kindness.”

Prognosis

Soha has a serious eye problem called Retinopathy of Prematurity, and she is showing complaints like water discharge from her eyes and poor vision. If she doesn’t receive anti-VEGF injection quickly, she risks permanent blindness. Urgent treatment is needed to save her sight.
