Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Hepatitis is a condition that occurs when the liver's defenses are weakened by a viral infection, which is usually spread through contaminated food, water, bodily fluids, or sexual contact. In advanced stages, hepatitis can become a systemic illness, leading to failure of multiple organs, severe liver damage such as cirrhosis or liver failure, and can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Background

Israt is a 9-year-old girl from Narayanganj who loves studying and dreams of becoming a teacher like her parents. She suddenly became very sick with vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite because of acute viral hepatitis, which made it hard for her to go to school and do her normal activities. Her family is very poor, only her father works as a day laborer and earns just 7000 Taka per month, so they cannot afford the treatment she needs. They first went to a government hospital, but there was no vacancy, and they couldn’t afford a private hospital. Thanks to Helpster Charity and Narayanganj Poly Clinic, Israt was admitted and is now getting the treatment she needs, but her family still needs help to cover the costs.

Medical history

Israt , a 9-year-old girl, was suffering from acute Viral Hepatitis. She required emergency hospitalization due to severe vomiting, abdominal pain, anorexia, fever, and yellowish discoloration of her sclera, mucous membranes, and skin. Israt was diagnosed with Hepatitis and needed urgent treatment. Fatema was treated conservatively, and thankfully, she is now doing well and back home with a bright smile. Her family is incredibly happy to have her safe and sound! A heartfelt thank you to the Helpster Heroes and the Narayanganj Polyclinic Team!

Prognosis

Israt is suffering from acute viral hepatitis, presenting with vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite, and requires immediate medical treatment including supportive care and antiviral therapy; if not treated promptly, her condition could worsen, leading to liver failure or multi-organ failure, which can be life-threatening.
