Mohammad is a 1-month-old baby boy who lives with his mother, his father, and his grandmother. His father Ayub works as a day labourer and earns only about 300 taka a day, which is around 6000 taka a month, depending on weather. Mohammad's family struggles to cover basic food costs. Mohammad is a very lively boy, but his parents noticed he has trouble seeing, tracking objects, and sometimes makes unusual eye movements. Worried about his eyes, they took him to Mazharul Eye Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). If not treated quickly with an expensive injection, Mohammad could go blind. His family cannot afford the treatment, and they are very worried about his future. They are asking for Helpster Heroes’ support so Mohammad can get the urgent care he needs to save his sight.

Mohammad Gazi, a 1-month-old baby, required immediate treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to blindness if untreated. He was given Anti-VEGF injections by Dr. Md Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP specialist. The treatment progressed well, with abnormal blood vessel growth now under control and noticeable improvement in the retinal condition. Although Zone 3 typically represents a more peripheral area of the retina, the presence of Plus Disease—characterized by dilated and tortuous retinal vessels—indicates aggressive disease with a high risk of progression. To prevent complications such as retinal detachment and permanent vision loss, the treatment plan involves intravitreal Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes. This intervention is timely and medically necessary, as it halts abnormal blood vessel growth and stabilizes the retina.
