Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mahim Hossen is a 10-year-old boy who lives with his elderly grandparents and younger brother in a very poor family. Since his birth, he has had a swollen and painful right testicle, which the doctor diagnosed as a hernia that requires surgery. Due to their extreme poverty, Mahim’s family cannot afford the cost of the operation, and he has been working in a shop for six hours daily to help support his family. Despite his hardships, Mahim is a cheerful boy who enjoys playing football and dreams of getting a government job someday. His aunt heard about the free surgery at RUDO Hospital through a health worker and came seeking help because she is very worried about Mahim’s health and future.

Medical history

Mahim was experiencing pain, swelling, and discomfort in the groin area, which led to a diagnosis of inguinal hernia. To prevent the risk of strangulation and tissue death, he underwent a hernia repair surgery performed by a skilled surgical team at RUDO Hospital. The operation was successful, and Mahim’s condition improved significantly; he is now free from pain and discomfort. His life has changed for the better, and both Mahim and his family are very thankful to Helpster Heroes, Dr. Arif, and RUDO Hospital for their prompt and expert care that prevented serious complications.

Prognosis

Based on Mahim's complaints of pain, swelling, and discomfort in the groin area, the diagnosis is inguinal hernia, and he needs a hernia operation. If not treated, the hernia can become strangulated, cutting off blood supply to the protruded tissue, which can lead to tissue death and serious infections.
