Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Bokoli Subcounty Hospital

Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, Sikata - Kimilili Rd, Bokoli

Background

Jerry is a second lastborn in the family of 7. They stay in Sango near Matunda Market. Jerry's father works as a manual labourer; he doesn't get enough money to sustain his whole family. Jerry's parents get worried when any member of the family is sick because they do not have any money to pay for the treatment. Jerry hasn't begun school yet, but when her siblings come from school, she likes to write in their books. Because of this, her parents bought her a book to scribble on. She now scribbles on her book and attempts to say the letters of the alphabet. The last two days, she has not been active. Jerry came to the facility with the following complains; diarrhea and vomiting. Admission date - 21 July 2023.

Medical history

two days prior to coming to the hospital, Jerry's mother noticed that she has not been active. Jerry came to the facility with complains; diarrhea and vomiting. She also had loss of appetite and had not been feeding, thus looking quite famished. She was treated at the hospital and is back to her playful nature again, and can now continue scribbling on her books. Her mother jokingly said that she thinks Jerry will be a teacher in future. She is very happy and was grateful to Helpster for the assistance.

Prognosis

The infection should be treated immediately, since it may spread onto kidneys, if left untreated. It will also keep causing pain and discomfort if the treatment is not received.
