Background
A 9-year-old boy from a low-income household. He is cheerful and enjoys playing with friends. He is the third-born in a family of five (mother, two brothers, and two sisters). His father passed away when he was 5 years old. The boy aspires to become an engineer in the future. History of Oliguria, dysuria, hematuria and lower back pain for the past y months, pain subsides after he took some pain killer. This morning, he presented with acute urinary retention. Radiological findings: Indwelling bladder stone detected.
Medical history
Umar is a an 9 year old boy who was presented to this facility with the complaints of Oliguria,dysuria,lower abdominal pain and restlessness due to bladder outlet obstruction.Radiological examination findings indicates bladder stone.He was catheterized and planned for elective surgery on.Had a successful Cystolithotomy and was discharged on 31/7/2025. Patient is now stable and feeling well.
Prognosis
Treatment of larger bladder stones may require procedures such as lithotripsy (breaking the stones into smaller pieces using sound waves) or surgical removal. Additionally, measures to prevent the recurrence of bladder stones may include dietary changes, increased fluid intake, and addressing underlying conditions that contribute to stone formation.
