Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

John is a 3-year-old boy who lives with his grandmother in a rural village. John's grandmother is a casual labourer. They reside in a modest two-room house made of mud walls and a corrugated iron sheet roof. Despite his condition, John is a cheerful child. John has been living with cerebral palsy since birth. Three days ago he developed a gradual onset of fever, experienced three episodes of vomiting, and had tremors. His grandmother tried managing the symptoms with painkillers at home, but his condition did not improve. When he was brought to the health facility, he was still vomiting and febrile. Laboratory tests confirmed he had malaria and he was admitted for proper management.

Medical history

John was diagnosed with malaria in a known celebral palsy status and he was admitted for inpatient care that took him 2 to 3 days in the ward while on antimalarial drugs and other rehydrating fluid until he was stable and discharged . His mother acknowledged Helpster Charity Organization and Bokoli sub county hospital for helping his son get free medical treatment since date of admission to his discharge date.

Prognosis

Prognosis is good since the treatment was initiated early enough. When it remains untreated severe malaria can lead to a variety of neurological complications, including those that can resemble or worsen existing cerebral palsy symptoms. Severe malaria itself is a serious condition with potentially fatal consequences.
