Mohd B., 3

Mohd is a 3years old child of a security guard who lives below poverty line. He hardly earns money to feed the family. The boy is a joyful and likes making new friends. He has dream to become an entrepreneur to empower the poor. He was diagnosed of hydrocele in a different health facility about 8 months ago, but the family cannot afford the cost of treatment due to poverty. Initially, the size is small but gradually is getting bigger, there is feeling of heaviness and discomfort in the scrotum. On presentation at our facility, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Right Hydrocele.

Mohd, a 3-year-old male, presented with a 2-year history of reducible right inguinoscrotal swelling, occasionally accompanied by pain and mild obstruction. After thorough evaluation, he was diagnosed with right inguinoscrotal hernia. He underwent successful hernial repair surgery without immediate complications. Following a 3-day hospital stay for close monitoring and post-operative care, mohd recovered well and was discharged home with a scheduled follow-up appointment for 1 week. He has since fully recovered and resumed regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.

The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
