Background

Khadija is a 9-year-old girl from poor home who lives at the outskirt of Maiduguri, baga Road axis. She is playful and likes playing pranks with his friends. She dreams to become a journalist in the future. He was apparently well but 2 months ago he developed oliguria, dysuria, lower abdominal pain and bloody urine. He was treated for urinary tract infection in other facility and got some relief. Recently, he suddenly developed urine retention, and he was rushed to the nearest health facility and catheter was inserted to relief the retention and surgery proposed but family are poor. He was diagnosed with Bladder stone and planned for surgery.

Medical history

Khadija ismail a 9-year-old girl, presented with a 3-month history of flank and lower abdominal pain,dysuria accompanied by fever. After thorough evaluation and investigation, she was diagnosed with Cystolithiasis(bladder stone).She underwent successful Cystolithotomy surgery without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her condition, she was admitted for 3 days for close monitoring and post-operative care. Khadija recovered well and was discharged home after 3 days, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 week. Currently, she is doing well, has fully recovered, and has resumed her regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.

Prognosis

Treatment of larger bladder stones may require procedures such as lithotripsy (breaking the stones into smaller pieces using sound waves) or surgical removal. Additionally, measures to prevent the recurrence of bladder stones may include dietary changes, increased fluid intake, and addressing underlying conditions that contribute to stone formation.
