Thrombocytopenia is a medical condition characterized by a dangerously low number of platelets in the blood, which are essential for blood clotting. When platelet levels drop too low, it can lead to severe bleeding, even from minor injuries, and increase the risk of uncontrollable internal bleeding. If left untreated or if it worsens, thrombocytopenia can result in life-threatening hemorrhages, brain bleeds, and can ultimately be fatal. The condition requires prompt medical attention to prevent these devastating consequences. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection that occurs anywhere in the urinary system, including the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra. If left untreated or if it becomes severe, a UTI can lead to serious complications such as kidney damage, sepsis (a life-threatening blood infection), and widespread systemic infection. In the worst cases, untreated UTIs can cause permanent kidney failure or even death due to overwhelming infection and organ failure. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent these potentially fatal outcomes.

Rekha Rani, a 28-year-old housewife, is currently 19 weeks pregnant with her second child, and her first delivery was a difficult C-section. Her husband, Chobdon, works as a day laborer earning only 8,000 BDT a month, which is barely enough to meet their family's basic needs. The doctor has warned that she needs another C-section to ensure her safety and the health of her unborn baby, but the family simply cannot afford the costly procedure. Without this urgent surgery, Rekha risks falling into a life-threatening condition that could endanger both her and her baby's lives. If she doesn't receive the necessary treatment soon, her future—and that of her growing family—could be forever changed by tragedy.
Medical history
The patient, Rekha Rani 2nd gravida with a previous cesarean history, was admitted to City Clinic on 25th July 2025. A successful cesarean section was performed the same day, and she delivered a healthy baby. Both mother and child progressed well and were discharged on 29th July 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.
Prognosis
Given her history of a previous cesarean section, current thrombocytopenia, and urinary tract infection at 28 weeks gestation, a planned cesarean section is strongly recommended to prevent potential complications such as postpartum hemorrhage, uterine rupture, or fetal distress. Without timely surgical intervention, she faces a high risk of critical maternal and fetal morbidity or mortality due to obstetric emergencies. Therefore, an elective cesarean is essential to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.
