Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care
A strangulated hernia is a life-threatening medical emergency occurring when protruding tissue (usually bowel) becomes trapped in an abdominal wall weak spot and its blood supply is cut off. This causes rapid tissue death (gangrene), severe pain, fever, nausea, and vomiting. Immediate surgery is required to prevent infection and death. A strangulated umbilical hernia with sepsis is a critical medical emergency. When a hernia is "strangulated," it means a section of the intestine or fatty tissue has become trapped, and its blood supply is cut off. If the tissue begins to die (necrosis), it releases toxins and bacteria into the bloodstream, leading to sepsis, a life-threatening response to infection that can cause organ failure.

Background
Hajara and her husband Aliyu were hardworking people, but in Gashua, the weather dictated their fortune. A poor harvest for Aliyu meant tighter belts for the family, and Hajara’s groundnut sales often became their primary lifeline. They were "happily married" in every sense of the word, but they lived on the razor's edge of financial instability. Every kobo was accounted for, leaving no room for emergencies. Aliyu and Hajara exhausted their meager savings on local remedies and basic clinic visits, but hajara’s condition only worsened. She began losing weight rapidly, her ribs showing through her skin—a sight that broke Hajara’s heart. Hajara felt the weight of the world. They had no land left to sell and no relatives left to borrow from. It was then that a local community health worker, noticing Hajara’s distress, mentioned Helpster. The worker explained that Helpster was a platform designed to bridge the gap between families in medical crisis and donors willing to fund life-saving treatments. Hajara was brought to Ayaji hospital with a painful swelling at the navel (umbilical swelling) that had been present for three months. The condition was associated with vomiting and a discharge of pus from a "septic lesion" or infection site near the swelling. She was diagnosis with Strangulated Umbilical Hernia and Sepsis.
