Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Umar, a 2-year and 8-month-old boy, lives in Ngomari ward, and his dad is a blacksmith. He's been dealing with a swelling on his right side in the groin for over 8 months, and sometimes it hurts. Umar really enjoys playing with toys.

Medical history

Umar was admitted to the hospital with Right Obstructed Inguinal Hernia. He had a surgery on the 05th August, 2023. The surgery was conducted successfully, Umar had his post-operation treatment, and was discharged home on 08th August, 2023.

Prognosis

Umar's swelling needs to be surgically removed, and the boy has to go through the course of antibiotics. If scrotal swelling is left untreated, it may worsen over time, potentially causing increased pain and discomfort. In some cases, underlying conditions, like hernias or infections, can lead to complications such as bowel obstructions, strangulation, or abscess formation, which may require more extensive treatment or surgery.
