Tonsillitis is an inflammation or infection of the tonsils, which are two oval-shaped lymphatic tissues located at the back of the throat that help fight infections. If left untreated or if a tonsillectomy is not performed in cases of recurrent or severe tonsillitis, it can lead to serious complications such as abscess formation, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and the spread of infection to other parts of the body. In some cases, chronic tonsillitis can cause persistent sore throat, bad breath, and even lead to more serious health issues like rheumatic fever or kidney problems. Without proper treatment, these complications can significantly impact a person's health and quality of life.

Background
Khadija is a brave 9-year-old girl suffering from chronic tonsillitis, but her family struggles to afford her treatment because her father, Doyasul Miah, is a poor day laborer earning only 8,000 Taka a month. With five family members to support—including her elderly grandparents who are unable to work—their limited income makes it impossible to cover the high cost of surgery. Khadija is a bright and cheerful student, but her ongoing illness causes her severe sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and frequent fevers, affecting her daily life and studies. If she doesn't receive the necessary treatment soon, her condition could worsen, leading to life-threatening complications like airway obstruction or severe infection that could endanger her life. The family feels helpless and worried, hoping for help to give Khadija a healthy future.
Medical history
The patient, khadijatul Kobra is 9 years old, was admitted to City Clinic on 7 October 2025. A successful Adino-tonsilotomy operation was performed the same day.The child progressed well and were discharged on 8th November 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.
Prognosis
Khadija is currently presenting with persistent sore throat, dysphagia, and recurrent febrile episodes indicative of chronic tonsillitis. She may also exhibit halitosis, otalgia, and generalized fatigue, which are common clinical manifestations associated with long-standing tonsillar infection. These symptoms have progressively impaired her daily functioning and overall health status.
