Mohammed Abubakar is 11 years old boy living with his parents and four siblings in the Gwange area of Maiduguri. He attends a local government school, where he enjoys learning and spending time with his classmates. Mohammed is full of energy and dreams of becoming a professional footballer someday. In his free time, he loves playing football in the neighborhood and going fishing with his friends. His passion, determination, and cheerful spirit make him a well-oved figure among his peers. Mohammed Abubakr had always been active and full of energy, often seen playing football or fishing with his friends. But one morning, he woke up feeling unusually tired and had a high fever. He complained of a pounding headache and pain in his ear, which soon started to discharge pus. His body itched constantly, and some red rashes began to appear on his skin. At first, his parents thought it was just a mild illness, but as the symptoms worsened, they took him to the clinic. On presentation at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Skin Infection, Malaria, URTI, and Otitis Media.

Mohammed Abubakar was brought to the hospital on 16th June 2025 with complaints of fever, body weakness, ear pain, skin irritation, and general discomfort. After careful evaluation and laboratory investigations, he was diagnosed with Malaria, Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI), Skin Infection, and Otitis Media. His condition required prompt and comprehensive care to restore his health and prevent further complications. He was immediately started on a combination of treatments. Coartem tablets were given to combat malaria, while Amoksiklav and Piriton addressed bacterial infections and allergic symptoms. Paracetamol helped manage fever and pain, and Miconazole cream along with Nystatin tablets treated the skin and fungal infections. Nutritional support with Multivite aided his overall recovery. Laboratory investigations including Malaria Parasite test, Widal test, and PCV were conducted to monitor his progress and ensure effective treatment. Thanks to timely and consistent care, Mohammed responded well. His fever subsided, ear pain eased, skin lesions healed, and his energy and appetite returned. By the end of treatment, he was fully recovered, strong, and able to resume daily activities without any lingering symptoms. The total cost of Mohammed Abubakar’s care was ₦40,200.00, covering consultation, medications, injections, and laboratory tests. Most children recover fully with medications, rest, and proper hygiene. However, if left untreated or poorly managed, these conditions can lead to complications—such as severe anemia or organ damage (in malaria), breathing difficulties (in URTI), spread of infection (in skin infections), or hearing problems (in otitis media).
