Severe anemia is a condition where the blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body's tissues. This can lead to serious complications due to tissue hypoxia, including shock, hypotension, and even organ damage if left untreated. Septicemia is an infection in the bloodstream that is caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Also called sepsis, septicemia is a serious, life-threatening response to an infection that may get worse very quickly.

Background
Gaphin is the youngest child in a young family and lives with his parents and older brother in a single-room iron-sheet house. His parents work as casual laborers, relying on small jobs to meet their daily needs. Despite his young age, Gaphin is cheerful and often smiles when engaged. According to his mother, one Sunday evening, Gaphin developed a high fever and began vomiting. She gave him paracetamol, and the next day took him to the hospital, where he was treated as an outpatient and given medication. However, the vomiting persisted even after administering the medicine. Concerned by the lack of improvement, she returned to the hospital on Friday, and Gaphin was admitted for further care.
Medical history
The patient was brought in with hotness of the body, vomiting and coughing.He was admitted and was treated with IV artesunate and also underwent blood transfusion. Patient was also administered broad spectrum antibiotics for his sepsis . Patient responded well to treatment and was discharged on orals . Call by hospital confirmed that the patient had made a full recovery and has gone back to his normal life
Prognosis
Severe malaria is a life-threatening medical emergency with a high risk of death if not treated promptly. While the prognosis is poor without treatment, with timely and effective treatment, mortality rates can be reduced to below 5% Severe anemia can have a serious prognosis, potentially leading to life-threatening complications and even death. The severity and outcome depend on the underlying cause of the anemia The patient received prompt treatment and is due to make a full recovery
