Rayhan Ahmed is a fragile, premature baby whose tiny eyes are at risk of losing their sight due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. His father, Md. Rasel Ahmed, earns only BDT 10,000 a month working in a small private company, barely enough to feed their six-member family living in a humble tin-roofed house. His mother, Jannatul Mawa, devotes herself entirely to caring for him, but their limited income makes the costly treatment impossible without help. If Rayhan does not receive the necessary Anti-VEGF injections soon, he could face irreversible blindness, robbing him of the chance to see the world around him and fulfill his dreams. His worried family prays for support so their little boy can have a healthy future filled with hope and light.
Medical history
Rayhan Ahmed, a 1-month-old baby boy, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes — a serious condition that can lead to blindness if untreated. He received timely Anti-VEGF injections under the expert care of Dr. Md Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist of the Hospital. The treatment was successful, with the abnormal blood vessel growth now under control and the retinal condition showing steady improvement. Doctors are hopeful that Rayhan will develop normal vision as he grows. Sincere thanks to Helpster Charity and the Helpster Heroes for their compassionate support in helping him regain the light of sight.
Prognosis
Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant, along with Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital in Chandpur, has assessed Rayhan’s condition and strongly recommended urgent Anti-VEGF injections in both eyes. They emphasized that the treatment needs to be administered without delay to prevent permanent blindness. According to the doctors, if treated on time, Rayhan has an excellent chance of developing normal or near-normal vision, allowing him to lead a full and independent life. On the other hand, any delay or lack of treatment may result in irreversible vision loss, severely limiting his development, learning abilities, and quality of life. Therefore, we humbly appeal to Helpster Charity to extend their support and give Rayhan Ahmed the chance to see the world he has just entered—clearly, fully, and with hope for a bright future.
