Background
Mohammad Ajmaen, a lively 5-year-old boy from Narayanganj, suddenly fell seriously ill with high fever, abdominal pain, and nausea, which worsened despite initial treatment. His family, consisting of his father Abdul Wahid, a day laborer earning only 7500 taka per month, his mother Tisha Moni, and his grandmother Munni Begum, struggles to afford the urgent hospital care he needs. Due to their limited income and lack of resources, they are unable to pay for private treatment or hospital admission. If Ajmaen does not receive proper treatment promptly, he risks developing severe complications like intestinal perforation and sepsis, which could be life-threatening.
Medical history
Mohammad initially presented with high fever, loss of appetite, nausea, and abdominal pain, leading to a diagnosis of enteric fever. He was treated conservatively with paracetamol, injectable ceftriaxone, and anti-emetic medications. Mohammad was admitted on 15/06/25, received treatment, and was discharged from the hospital on 20/06/25. Thanks to this prompt treatment, Mohammad is now recovering well and has returned home with a healthy and smiling face. His family is very grateful to Helpster Charity and Narayanganj Polyclinic for their support and care during his illness.
Prognosis
Ajmaeen presented with symptoms of high fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort, leading to a diagnosis of enteric (typhoid) fever caused by Salmonella species. Prompt treatment with intravenous ceftriaxone and supportive medications is essential to prevent severe complications such as intestinal perforation and sepsis, which can be life-threatening if left untreated.
