Aisha Mohammed is a 12 year old girl living with her parents in Maiduguri. Despite her family’s modest means, Aisha is a dedicated and hardworking student at the Government Girls College in Maiduguri. At home, she loves to help her parents with household chores and takes pride in supporting her family. Aisha is passionate about her studies and dreams of becoming a doctor one day, so she can give back to her community and help those in need. Aisha began feeling very unwell, with high fever, chills, and a constant headache. She complained of a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and felt too tired to carry out her usual chores. Her breathing became labored, and she developed a persistent cough. As the days passed, she felt weaker and suffered from stomach discomfort and loss of appetite. Concerned for her health, her parents took her to Helpster at Nakowa. On presentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with Malaria, ARI, Tonsillitis, and Enteric Fever.

Aisha Mohammed Bukar was brought to the hospital on 16th June 2025 with complaints of high fever, persistent cough, throat pain, and general weakness. After thorough clinical evaluation and laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with Malaria, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), Tonsillitis, and Enteric (Typhoid) Fever, conditions that required immediate and comprehensive medical care. She was promptly started on appropriate treatment. Ciprofloxacin was administered to target bacterial infections related to enteric fever and tonsillitis, while Lonart DS was given for malaria treatment. Cough syrup and Loratadine tablets were prescribed to relieve respiratory symptoms and allergic reactions. An intramuscular Gentamycin injection was also administered for rapid control of infection. Laboratory investigations including Malaria Parasite test, PCV, and Widal test were conducted to guide treatment and monitor her progress. Aisha responded positively to treatment. Her fever subsided, cough and throat discomfort resolved, and her strength gradually returned. By the end of her treatment and follow-up, she was medically stable and fully recovered, able to resume her normal daily activities without complications. The total cost of Aisha’s medical care was ₦47,000.00, covering consultation, medications, injections, laboratory tests, and nursing care. This entire bill was fully covered by Helpster Charity, whose timely and compassionate support ensured she received uninterrupted medical treatment without any financial strain on her family. With early diagnosis, appropriate medical intervention, and supportive care, all four conditions, that is, malaria, acute respiratory infection, tonsillitis, and enteric fever have a favorable prognosis. Most patients recover fully when treated promptly, with resolution of symptoms and return to normal activity. However, delays in treatment or complications can lead to more serious outcomes, making timely medical attention essential for a complete recovery.
