When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About malaria + enteric fever
Malaria is a parasitic infection transmitted by the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. It causes symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, and body weakness. If not treated early, it can lead to severe complications like anemia, organ damage, or death, especially in vulnerable groups. Enteric fever, including typhoid and paratyphoid, is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella species, usually through contaminated food or water. It presents with prolonged fever, abdominal discomfort, weakness, and sometimes rashes. Early medical treatment and good hygiene practices are key to managing and preventing the disease.

Background
Hadiza is a 19-year-old mother of 1 child born about 2 months ago. She is only a housewife, taking care of the home as her husband looks after the grazing cattle. About two months after childbirth, she has been experiencing abdominal pains, cough, and headache. On presentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with Malaria, Respiratory Tract Infection and Enteric Fever.
Medical history
After Hadiza was brought to Albishir clinic, she was well received by the Medical team. With the presentation she was requested to do some tests and result revealed malaria and enteric fever. Hadiza was immediately admitted and taken to the ward where some antimalarials as well as antibiotics were served. She has been stable immediately after treatment commenced. Medications continued at the hospital until the doctor was satisfied that she was due for discharge. Prior to her discharge, she was advised by the doctor to eat well and rest well. There was arrangements for follow up. Hadiza has been recovering well and she is happy Helpster Charity extended help to her.
Prognosis
Early diagnosis and prompt treatment usually lead to full recovery, especially with effective antimalarial drugs. However, if left untreated, it can become severe and life-threatening. It stresses the importance of prevention through mosquito control, insecticide-treated nets, and awareness in endemic areas. In the case of enteric fever, the prognosis is generally good with early antibiotic therapy. However, delayed treatment can lead to complications like intestinal perforation or long-term infection. Doctors recommend vaccination in high-risk areas, access to clean water, and improved sanitation as key preventive measures.
