Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mahafuja Begum is a dedicated mother and humble housewife living in hardship in a small home with her family of four. Her husband, Jobed Ali, works tirelessly as a rickshaw puller, earning just 8,000 taka a month—barely enough to cover food, rent, and school costs for their two young children. Now, at 40 weeks pregnant with her fifth child and a history of two previous cesarean deliveries, Mahafuja faces a critical situation. Doctors have urgently recommended an immediate C-section to save her and her unborn baby, warning of severe risks like uterine rupture, fetal distress, and even death if delayed. Despite her strength and resilience, Mahafuja’s family cannot afford the surgery cost—leaving their lives hanging in the balance without help.

Medical history

Mahafuja Begum and her newborn are in good health now. Her husband and mother came to hospital for receiving her and her child. They gave thank to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, Abdullah and Amulla for treatment support. Her husband was very grateful to the Helpster for financial support.

Prognosis

Mahafuja Begum is a 40-week pregnant G5P4 patient with a history of two previous lower segment cesarean sections (LSCS). Given her obstetric history and current clinical findings, an immediate cesarean section is medically indicated to prevent serious complications, including uterine rupture, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD), placental abruption, and maternal hemorrhagic shock. Any delay in surgical intervention significantly increases the risk of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.
