Background
Borkot, a 17-year-old student from Narayanganj, has been suffering from chronic constipation with bleeding and severe hemorrhoids for a long time. His mother, Najma Begum, a garment worker earning only 8,000 Taka per month, cannot afford the costly surgery he needs to treat his condition. Despite trying medicines from local pharmacies and hospitals, his condition worsened, and now he requires a major operation that their limited income cannot cover. Without this surgery, Borkot risks serious complications like infection, difficulty in defecation, or even life-threatening issues. Medical history
Borkot was diagnosed with *Grade 3 chronic hemorrhoids*. He presented with complaints of *recurrent per rectal bleeding, pain during defecation, and chronic constipation*. The patient was admitted to *Narayanganj Poly Clinic* after receiving treatment from various healthcare facilities without any significant improvement. A *hemorrhoidectomy (Longo procedure)* was successfully performed under *spinal anaesthesia*. Post-operatively, conservative management was provided. Borkot was admitted on 03/08/25, received treatment, and was discharged from the hospital on 05/08/25. The patient has shown good recovery and is now doing well—he has returned to his normal life with a smiling face.
Prognosis
The patient has successfully undergone hemorrhoidectomy for third-degree hemorrhoids under spinal anesthesia, with an uncomplicated postoperative course. If left untreated, severe hemorrhoids can lead to persistent pain, bleeding, thrombosis, infection, and potential complications such as anemia or prolapse.
