If a cesarean section is not performed to deliver the baby, there are serious risks such as birth trauma, umbilical cord prolapse, asphyxia (lack of oxygen), or even stillbirth. Background
Shajo Begum, a 30-year-old housewife, is currently 30 weeks pregnant with her baby in breech position, which requires a cesarean section to ensure a safe delivery. Her family, consisting of her husband Mominul Islam, a day laborer earning only 8,000 Taka per month, her son Sagor, who is a 22-year-old job seeker, and her 16-year-old daughter Sabikun, struggles to afford the high cost of the surgery. Despite her strength and hope for a healthy delivery, the breech presentation puts her at risk of complications such as birth trauma, cord prolapse, or even stillbirth if not properly managed. If she does not receive the necessary C-section, both mother and baby could face life-threatening dangers during delivery, which could tragically endanger their lives and deepen their family's hardship.
Medical history
Shajo Begum was admitted to the hospital on August 21, 2025, with a diagnosis of a Breech presentation. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Both mother and newborn were discharged on August 25, 2025, in good health. Her husband came to the hospital to receive her and their child.
