Habib H., 10

Habib is a 10-year-old young happy boy, who is always smiling. He is the 4th of 6 children. He leaves with his mother and siblings. He likes to play football and likes to read his books as well. Football is what he does after reading. Family income is 6000 Naira. One of those days about a year ago while he was playing football, he fell and a metal object pierce through his left eye since then he has had problems seeing with that eye. On presentation at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Laceration of the Corneal. This was initially treated in 2024 but currently the child is having opacity and difficulty to see and requires a second surgery.

"Hassan Habib, a 10-year-old male, was treated for posterior capsular opacity in his left eye, which developed after a previous trauma and intraocular lens implantation. He underwent a manual posterior capsulotomy under general anesthesia and is recovering well with improving visual acuity. He will require regular follow-up appointments to monitor his progress."

The prognosis is good with prompt and appropriate treatment. The vision improved after the surgery but deteriorated over time due to development of a dense posterior capsular opacity, not amenable to laser treatment. To improve his vision, he would require a manual posterior capsulotomy surgery under general anesthesia. Kindly accord him all necessary assistance.
