Abdullah Miah is a bright and curious 5-year-old boy whose world is dimming due to a cataract and squint in his left eye, threatening his ability to see and learn. His family, living in deep poverty in Chandpur, survives on just BDT 5,000 a month from his father, a one-eyed fisherman with no boat or land, and his mother, who struggles to manage their household. Without the necessary treatment, Abdullah’s vision will continue to worsen, making it impossible for him to recognize loved ones or enjoy childhood activities, potentially leading to lifelong blindness. His sister dreams of playing with him and going to school together, but their hopes are fading without help. His family’s heartfelt plea is for support so Abdullah can regain his sight and have a future full of color and opportunity.

Abdullah Miah, a 5-year-old boy, was diagnosed with a cataract in his left eye, which significantly affected his vision and daily activities. To restore his eyesight and prevent further complications, he underwent cataract surgery under anesthesia by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The surgery was performed successfully and went smoothly without any complications. After the procedure, Abdullah’s visual acuity improved remarkably, and he can now see clearly with his operated eye. He feels much more comfortable, active, and happy as his vision has been restored. The successful treatment has given him the chance to enjoy a normal childhood once again. His family is overjoyed with the positive outcome of the surgery. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Abdullah urgently needs Cataract Surgery in his left eye to remove the clouded lens and replace it with an artificial intraocular lens. This will be followed by Vision Therapy and Spectacle correction to manage the partial squint and help the brain adapt to using the restored eye effectively. Md Ismail Hossain, the hospital’s Optometrist, will supervise the therapy sessions to train his visual system and strengthen binocular vision. The doctors strongly believe that with timely surgical and rehabilitative treatment, Abdullah’s eyesight can be significantly improved, and he can return to a healthy, active life. He will be able to go to school, play with friends, and participate fully in life with restored confidence and independence. However, if the surgery is delayed or skipped due to lack of financial means, the outcome may be irreversible, leading to permanent visual disability in the left eye. The total cost of Abdullah’s treatment, including surgery, lens implantation, vision therapy, and spectacles, is BDT 48,000, which is beyond the family's ability to afford.
