Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction (CNLDO), though treatable, can pose serious risks if ignored. Without the recommended probing surgery, Fahim may face recurrent eye infections, chronic irritation, and even damage to the surface of the eye that can impact his vision permanently. The constant tearing can blur his vision, disturb his sleep, and hinder his physical and emotional development.

Background
Fahim Hossain, a bright and curious 2-year-old boy, has been suffering from persistent tearing and discharge from both eyes since birth, caused by Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction. His family, living in deep poverty with a monthly income of only BDT 8,000, struggles to meet their basic needs in a rented home in Chandpur. His father, Md. Ismail, works tirelessly as an auto-rickshaw driver, but the high cost of the BDT 25,000 surgery is far beyond their reach. Without this urgent probing surgery under general anesthesia, Fahim risks ongoing infections, worsening vision problems, and long-term damage that could hinder his development and quality of life forever. His family’s limited resources leave them helpless to give him the care he desperately needs for a healthier future.
Medical history
Fahim Hossain, a 2-year-old boy, needed surgery for Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct obstruction in both eyes, as he was suffering from constant watering and discomfort that affected his vision. He underwent probing surgery under general anesthesia, performed by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The procedure was successful, clearing the ducts, stopping the watering, and improving his visual acuity. Fahim can now see clearly and live more comfortably. Heartfelt thanks to Helpster Charity and the Helpster Heroes for supporting him to regain his vision and comfort.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, the proposed nasolacrimal duct probing under general anesthesia is a simple but highly effective procedure, especially when performed at this early stage. With successful treatment, Fahim’s tear ducts will open, and the constant watering and infection risk will be resolved. This will not only protect his eyesight but also significantly improve his quality of life. The earlier the intervention, the better the outcome—delaying treatment may reduce the success rate and require more invasive surgery in the future. This is why we are reaching out with a heartfelt request to Helpster Charity to stand beside little Fahim and his struggling family.
