Zubairu H., 1

Zubairu is a calm child who always wants to be with his mother. He dislikes people. He lives with his mother together with his other siblings in a temporary small shelter owned by someone. Zubairu presented with a week history of high fever, vomiting, cough, and shortness of breath. His parents reported irritability, loss of appetite and body weakness. On presentation at our hospital, Zubairu was evaluated and diagnosed with Bronchopneumonia (Infection of the lungs) and Malaria. She requires urgent medical attention.

Zubairu was admitted in our facility with complaints high fever, vomiting, cough, shortness of breath, irritability, decrease level of appetite and generalized body weakness. After proper evaluation, he was diagnosed with Severe Malaria and Bronchopneumonia. He had his complete dosages of parenteral Antimalarials, Antibiotics and analgesics. He was also rehydrated with IV fluids. As the treatment progressed, he responded well as evidenced by resolving of his admitting symptoms. He was then discharged home with oral medications following the improvement of his condition.

Haruna is suffering from malaria and bronchopneumonia. It affects his health but they are all curable with timely and effective antimalarials and antibiotics respectively. when the appropriate drugs and timing are used, these diseases are curable, however, with delayed treatment they can be life threatening.
