Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Sumaiya Khatun, a bright and determined 10-year-old student, has been suffering from severe abdominal pain for two days, making it impossible for her to focus on her studies. Her parents, Saifur Islam, a day laborer earning just 8,000 Tk per month, and Shefali Begum, a homemaker, are deeply worried. After consulting a local doctor, they learn that Sumaiya has acute appendicitis and requires immediate surgery to prevent life-threatening complications. However, with two younger siblings—8-year-old Suraiya and 2-year-old Amir Hamza—to care for, the family struggles to afford the medical expenses. Without surgery, Sumaiya’s condition could worsen, leading to a ruptured appendix, severe infection, or even death, putting her education and future at risk. The family is desperate for help to save their daughter.

Medical history

Sumaiya Khatun was admitted to the hospital on June 20, 2025, with right sided abdominal pain. After diagnoses, she was found with appendicitis problem. On the same day, doctor conducted Appendicectomy. After seven days, she was discharged on June 26, 2025, in good health. Her father and mother came to the hospital to receive her. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic and, Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Her father was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster.

Prognosis

Sumaiya is exhibiting classic symptoms of acute appendicitis—severe abdominal pain for two days—requiring immediate appendectomy (surgical removal of the appendix) to prevent rupture. Without urgent surgery, she risks peritonitis, sepsis, or even death due to infection spreading in her abdomen. Early intervention is critical to ensure her full recovery and return to normal life.
