Oligohydramnios is a condition characterized by a decreased amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus during pregnancy. Preeclampsia, also known as toxemia, is a pregnancy complication marked by high blood pressure and damage to organ systems, often the kidneys. If not properly managed, these conditions can lead to serious complications such as fetal growth restriction, umbilical cord compression, placental abruption, preterm birth, or stillbirth, posing significant risks to both mother and baby.

Background
Lipi Akter, a 20-year-old pregnant woman, has developed preeclampsia with symptoms like foot edema and high blood pressure, which require urgent medical care. Her family, with a monthly income of only 6,000 Taka from her husband Kalam’s daily wages, struggles to afford the necessary treatment. Her parents-in-law, who are unemployed and elderly, are unable to contribute financially. If Lipi does not receive prompt medical attention, her condition could worsen, leading to life-threatening complications such as eclampsia or organ failure, putting both her and her baby's lives at serious risk. The family is hopeful for help to ensure she gets the care she needs to stay safe.
Medical history
After experiencing labor pain for over 38+ weeks, she arrived at our hospital where doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed that amniotic fluid is low and there is high blood pressure about 160/100 and she is a known case of preeclampsia toxemia of pregnancy , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
Given Lipi's diagnosis of preeclampsia with moderate oligohydramnios, an immediate cesarean section is necessary to prevent further complications such as fetal distress, placental abruption, or maternal organ damage. Prompt surgical intervention is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby. Delaying the procedure could result in life-threatening outcomes for both.
