If a post-term pregnancy is not managed with a timely cesarean section, there is a high risk of fetal demise, severe birth trauma, or complications such as meconium aspiration syndrome and placental insufficiency that can endanger both mother and baby's lives. Oligohydramnios is a pregnancy complication characterized by abnormally low amniotic fluid, which is crucial for fetal lung development, movement, and protection. Without timely intervention (such as C-section or close monitoring), it can lead to severe birth defects, umbilical cord compression, stillbirth, or life-threatening complications for both mother and baby during delivery.

Background
Anowera Khatun, a 24-year-old housewife, and her family live in deep poverty, with her husband Alongir Hossain earning only 8,000 Taka a month as a sales assistant. She is now 40 weeks pregnant with a post-dated pregnancy and oligohydramnios, which significantly increases the risk of stillbirth, fetal distress, and placental insufficiency. Due to their financial struggles, they cannot afford the urgent cesarean section needed to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. If she does not receive this critical intervention promptly, there is a high chance of fetal demise or severe complications during delivery that could threaten her life as well. Thanks to Helpster Heroes and Rahul Amin Akul’s support, they remain hopeful that timely treatment can prevent these tragic outcomes.
Medical history
Anowera Khatun was admitted to the hospital on June 25, 2025, with a diagnosis of post term pregnancy. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby. Both mother and newborn were discharged on June 29, 2025, in good health. Her husband came to the hospital to receive her and their child. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, Bablu Abdullah, and Amulla for their treatment and support. Prognosis
Anowera Khatun, at 40 weeks of post-dated pregnancy with oligohydramnios, requires an urgent cesarean section to prevent complications such as fetal hypoxia, cord compression, and meconium aspiration syndrome. If the C-section is not performed promptly, both mother and fetus are at increased risk of fetal distress, stillbirth, and birth trauma. Timely surgical intervention is essential to ensure a safe delivery.
