Background
Atiya Moni is a bright and hardworking first grader who dreams of becoming a teacher, while also excelling in sports. She lives in a small tin house with her parents and younger sister, but her father, a daily laborer earning only 7,000 BDT a month, struggles to provide even the basic needs of the family. For the past four years, Atiya has suffered from chronic adenotonsillitis, causing repeated sore throats, difficulty eating, and frequent absences from her madrasa. Doctors have now advised urgent adenotonsillectomy, as medicines have failed to cure her condition. Without this surgery, her health will continue to decline, putting her education, her dreams, and even her well-being at serious risk.
Medical history
Atia Moni 09 years old girl came with the complaints of sore throat for 7 days, difficulty in deglutition for same duration, history of fever for 8 days ago and H/O tonsillitis several times in previous year , and admitted in this hospital on 25 June 2025 , then after proper examination and investigation she was diagnosed as chronic adenotonsillitis and was planned to treat surgically, after proper preanaesthetic check up her Adenotonsilectomy was done successfully on 25 June 2025 at night. Then she was kept in postoperative care and was shifted to her cabin bed . On 3 rd POD on 28 June 2025 she was discharged with appropriate medication and advice.
Prognosis
The patient has been suffering from chronic adenotonsillitis for the past five years, experiencing persistent symptoms such as sore throat, difficulty swallowing, nasal congestion, and breathing problems, particularly during sleep. Given the duration and severity of the condition, surgery is urgently needed to remove the adenoids and tonsils to prevent further complications, including chronic respiratory issues and sleep apnea. If left untreated, the patient risks developing serious consequences such as recurrent ear infections and systemic infections that could affect overall health.
