When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites, spread through the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes. It attacks red blood cells, leading to cycles of high fever, chills, and weakness. Without treatment, it may progress to severe illness affecting the brain, kidneys, or liver. It is a major health threat in many parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Respiratory Tract Infection (RTI) is an illness that affects breathing passages—from the nose and throat to the lungs. It can be triggered by viruses or bacteria and commonly shows symptoms like coughing, sneezing, fever, and chest congestion. RTIs are classified into upper (e.g., cold, sinusitis) and lower (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia) infections. Though many cases are mild, serious infections can be fatal without prompt care.

Background
Hafsat is a girl of 13 years, she is living with her parents in a community east side of Bauchi town. This community is thrilled with poverty, but Hafsat's parents still struggled to get her into the primary school. One day, Hafsat was up but couldn't get out of bed because she was feeling some weight on her head, abdominal pain cough and chest pain as well as fever. She was brought to Albishir for help under Helpster Charity. On presentation at our hospital, Hafsat was evaluated and diagnosed with Malaria and Respiratory Tract Infection.
Medical history
Hafsat was brought to Albisbir Hospital in a weak state with symptoms of malaria and diagnosed with Malaria and a Respiratory Tract Infection. With the support of Helpster Charity, she received intensive treatment, including antimalarial drugs, antibiotics, and other supportive care. Her condition gradually stabilized, and after a few days of close observation, she made a strong recovery and was due for discharge.
Prognosis
The doctor suggests that Malaria is seen as a serious parasitic disease that, with early diagnosis and proper antimalarial treatment, usually has a favorable outcome—though severe forms can be life-threatening. Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) range from mild viral colds to serious bacterial infections like pneumonia, and prognosis depends on the cause and patient’s immune status. Both conditions demand prompt treatment to prevent complications such as organ failure in malaria or lung damage in RTIs.
