Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About diagnostics

For over a year, Lavlu Miah has suffered from severe throat pain, fever, and a breathing problem. Initially, due to financial hardship, he was unable to see a doctor. After he was finally taken for a diagnosis, doctors found he had a Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS) with Hypertrophied Inferior Turbinate (HIT) and advised a Septoplasty with Submucous Diathermy (SMD) surgery. This condition severely impacts his daily life, as Septoplasty is primarily performed to improve nasal breathing by straightening the septum, correcting issues that cause constant difficulty breathing.

Thank you for saving this life!

Background

Lavlu Miah, a 17-year-old with dreams of a brighter future through education, was forced to leave school to become a job seeker and help his impoverished family of four. For an entire year, he has endured severe throat pain and a persistent breathing problem, a condition his parents, Rafiqul Islam, a day laborer, and Lucky Begum, a housewife, were initially unable to address due to their meager monthly income of just 8,000 taka. Diagnosed with Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS) with Hypertrophied Inferior Turbinate (HIT), Lavlu requires Septoplasty with Submucous Diathermy (SMD) surgery. Without this critical operation, his condition will worsen, leaving him unable to work and thus plunging his family, including his young brother Nur Mohammad, into even greater despair and poverty.

Medical history

Lavlu Miah was admitted to the hospital on June 27, 2025, with Adeno-tonsillitis. On the same day, doctor conducted Adeno-tonsillectomy. After two days, he was discharged on June 28, 2025, in good health. Her father and mother came to the hospital to receive her. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic and, Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Her father was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster.

Prognosis

Based on the diagnosis of a Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS) with Hypertrophied Inferior Turbinate (HIT), the patient requires urgent surgical correction. The prognosis is that without intervention, the debilitating symptoms of severe throat pain, fever, and breathing difficulties will continue to worsen. Our medical opinion is that a Septoplasty with Submucous Diathermy (SMD) is essential to both straighten the septum and reduce the enlarged turbinates, which are the root cause of his suffering. Failure to proceed with this surgery carries significant risk, including chronic sinusitis and a long-term decline in his overall quality of life.
