Rukkaya Hussaini, a 1-year-7-month-old girl, was diagnosed with severe anemia, malaria, and malnutrition. Severe anemia is a serious condition characterized by a significant decrease in red blood cells or hemoglobin levels, leading to various health complications and requiring prompt medical attention. Malnutrition is an imbalance between the nutrients your body needs to function and the nutrients it gets. Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. She has been treated with antibiotics, antimalarial medication, and fluids. Due to her low blood count (PCV 15%), she requires a blood transfusion to improve her condition and support her recovery.

Background
Two-year-old Rukaiya, unable to attend school due to poverty, became critically ill. Her family's lack of funds prevented timely medical care, and she suffered for days before being turned away from a hospital. A kind stranger directed them to Helpster, offering Rukaiya a chance at recovery. The story is a plea for support to provide Rukaiya with the medical care and a future. On presentation at our hospital, she had complaints of vomiting, uncontrolled stooling for seven days, and severe body pains. She was evaluated and investigations confirmed a diagnosis of Severe anemia, malaria, and malnutrition.
Medical history
One-year-seven-month-old Rukkaya Hussaini was admitted for severe anemia, malaria, and malnutrition. The first days were challenging, with her health hanging in the balance. She responded well to anemia treatments, antimalarials, nutritional support, and medications. After just 4 days of steady gains, she was discharged home in her parents' care. The family beams with joy and thanks Helpster Charity wholeheartedly for the free treatment.
Prognosis
The doctor diagnosed Hussaini Rukkaya with severe anemia, malaria secondary to malnutrition which is life-threatening. Recommends treatment with antibiotics, antimalarial medication, fluids, and a blood transfusion. With prompt treatment, including the blood transfusion, Hussaini Rukkaya's condition is likely to improve. The prognosis is cautiously optimistic, as the treatment aims to address the underlying causes of her illness. The treatment will likely have a significant positive impact on Hussaini Rukkaya's life by: Improving her anemia: The blood transfusion will help increase her red blood cell count, alleviating symptoms like fatigue and weakness.
