Background
Shantel is a happy girl who dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up. She enjoys sharing stories with her mom and lending a hand with household tasks. Since she was 2 years old, she's had a constant flow of fluid from her right ear, which has been going on for a while. This has made her shy away from spending time with her friends.
Medical history
For several months, Shantel has been having mild headache with associated pain in the right ear. A few weeks ago, she started having a discharge from her right ear this has eventually grown to become a serious problem which affects her socially with others and has also affected her hearing. She was diagnosed with Otitis media and since the family were unable to pay hospital bills so Helpster and elgon view team intervene and gave her best medication as per the condition she had.
Prognosis
Without intervention, the infection may persist or worsen, causing ongoing pain, discomfort, and hearing loss. In some cases, untreated otitis media can lead to more severe complications, such as the spread of infection to nearby structures like the mastoid bone (mastoiditis) or the development of chronic otitis media, which can lead to long-term hearing problems. In children, chronic ear infections can potentially impact language development and academic performance. Therefore, prompt medical attention and appropriate treatment, often involving antibiotics or surgical interventions, are essential to prevent these complications and ensure optimal ear health.
