Uterine fibroids are benign smooth muscle tumors of the uterus that can grow significantly in size, causing compression effects on surrounding organs. Large fibroids may lead to chronic pelvic pain, pressure symptoms, and, most critically, severe menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), which can result in life-threatening anemia, hypovolemia, and hemodynamic instability. In extreme cases, prolonged blood loss may necessitate urgent blood transfusion, surgical intervention, or even hysterectomy to prevent fatal complications.

Background
Omowunmi Onadeko is the first child of her parents, married in 2022 had spontaneous abortions twice because of the uterine mass. Lives with her husband in a room and parlor apartment, she and her husband are working together as a fashion designer and their income per month is 30000. Abdominal swelling, abdominal pain, heavy menstrual flow. She noticed abdominal swelling 2years ago, the swelling has been increasing in size and associate with heavy menstrual flow. History of repeated spontaneous abortions twice because of the uterine mass. On presentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with Huge Uterine Fibroids.
Medical history
Omowunmi was diagnosed with heavy uterine fibroids (myoma) and was admitted for surgery with Helpster’s approval. The procedure was successfully carried out without any complications. She made a good recovery and was discharged home after nine days. Omowunmi is now fully recovered and able to resume her daily activities with joy. Prognosis
The prognosis of huge uterine fibroids with severe bleeding depends on the severity of anemia, response to medical management, and the necessity for surgical treatment. If untreated, ongoing severe bleeding can lead to cardiovascular collapse, multi-organ dysfunction, and increased surgical risks. Timely intervention, including medical therapy (such as hormonal treatment or tranexamic acid), minimally invasive procedures (such as uterine artery embolization), or definitive surgical options (such as myomectomy or hysterectomy), is crucial to preventing morbidity and mortality.
