Anis Hossain, a fragile one-month-old twin, was born prematurely at just 32 weeks, weighing only 1.5 kg, and now faces a life-changing threat from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), which can cause permanent blindness. His family, living in a small tin house with limited income of only BDT 9,000 per month, struggles to meet their basic needs, let alone afford the BDT 20,000 needed for his urgent treatment. His mother Sohana, a devoted housewife, and father Shah Alam, a hardworking tailor, are heartbroken and helpless, knowing that without immediate treatment, Anis risks losing his sight forever. The family’s limited resources and their humble living conditions make it impossible for them to pay for the necessary care, leaving them desperate for support to save their precious son's future.

Anis Hossain, a 1-month-old baby, required urgent treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes to prevent serious vision loss. He was treated with Anti-VEGF injections by Dr. Md Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist of the Hospital. The treatment went well, bringing the abnormal blood vessel growth under control and improving the retinal condition. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, immediate treatment is critical. Their prognosis is hopeful—if Anis receives the Anti-VEGF injections now and continues with regular follow-ups, his retina can stabilize, and his vision can develop normally. This will allow him to go to school, play, learn, and lead an independent, fulfilling life. However, if he is left untreated, the disease may cause permanent and total blindness, depriving him of all visual experiences and affecting every aspect of his development—educational, emotional, and social.
