Sadiya Mohammed is a 19 yearold girl living in a poor area of Gwange, Maiduguri. During the day, she supports her family by helping her mother sell fresh vegetables, and at night, she attends Islamiyya to study Islamic teachings. Though she has never attended formal school due to financial hardship, Sadiya dreams of going to school someday. She actively helps with house chores and also hopes to learn hairdressing in the near future to support herself and her family. Sadiya Mohammed had just returned from helping her mother at the market when she began to feel unusually tired. By night, she had a pounding headache and rising fever but still managed to attend Islamiyya. The next day, her condition worsened. She felt weak, had abdominal discomfort, and painful urination. Within days, she could no longer help at home or go to the market. Worried and unable to afford treatment, her family turned to Helpster Charity as Sadiya’s health continued to decline. Hauwa was diagnosed with Urinary Tract Infection, Malaria, and Enteric Fever requiring urgent medical care.

Hauwa Mohammed presented to the hospital on the 17th of June, 2025, with complaints of fever, body weakness, abdominal discomfort, and urinary symptoms. Following clinical assessment, she was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI) alongside malaria and enteric fever. Laboratory investigations, including urinalysis, urine microscopy/culture/sensitivity, and malaria parasite testing, were conducted to confirm the diagnoses and guide treatment. Treatment was commenced promptly with Lonart DS for malaria, Ciprofloxacin for the urinary tract infection, Paracetamol for fever and pain control, and Astymin for nutritional support. She also received intramuscular Diclofenac for pain relief and Gentamicin injections to ensure effective control of the infections. Her condition was closely monitored throughout the treatment period. Hauwa responded well to treatment, with complete resolution of fever and urinary symptoms and a steady improvement in her general wellbeing. By the end of care, she was clinically stable and fully recovered from the acute phase of her illnesses. The total cost of her medical care amounted to ₦46,000.00, all of which was fully settled by Helpster Charity. Hauwa Mohammed sincerely appreciates Helpster Charity for the support rendered, which enabled her to access timely and quality medical attention without financial difficulty. The prognosis for UTI is excellent with prompt antibiotic treatment; most patients recover fully without complications. Malaria + Enteric Fever has a good prognosis with early diagnosis and appropriate antimalarial and antibiotic therapy, though delayed or inadequate treatment may lead to severe complications such as dehydration, gastrointestinal perforation, or prolonged systemic illness.
