Background

Noela is a six-year-old girl, the fifth born in her family. She is polite and humble. She enjoys singing and dancing, and dreams of becoming a celebrity in the future. She had been unwell for three days when her mother first took her to the hospital, where she was treated as an outpatient and sent home. Later that evening, her condition worsened, and she began experiencing convulsions. With the help of neighbors, she was rushed back to the hospital, where further tests were carried out and treatment started. Due to the family’s circumstances, they were able to receive support from HELPSTER CHARITY ORGANIZATION at the hospital. Noela’s health has improved significantly, and she is now ready to return to school.

Medical history

Noela was brought into the facility accompanied by the mother and neighbor in active convulsion state. She was promptly attended to and I.V Diazepam 0.3mg/kg was administered. After which blood samples were taken to the laboratory a diagnosis of severe malaria was made. Noela was commenced on IV Artesunate for 0hrly,12hrly and 24hrly,Noela was also commenced IV Ceftriaxone 650mg for 5 days since her Lab results showed traces of infection. iv PCM to cub the fevers and also IVF D5% was administered. The medication brought good prognosis and Noela was able to return back to her normal life upon discharge. She was then discharged on oral antimalarials, antibiotics to continue with her treatment at home. A follow up visit showed Noella had recovered fully and could play with her mates,help in house chores and also go back to school.

Prognosis

Noela was diagnosed with severe malaria, a potentially life-threatening condition if not treated promptly. Following admission, she received appropriate medical care and supportive treatment. Her condition is bound to respond well to the intervention, and she will show significant improvement soon. Prognosis is good
