Ramson lives with his mother in a rural area. His mother earns about KSh 1,500 from selling maize at the local market, and the family fetches drinking water from a stream about 30 minutes away. Ramson enjoys playing football, and his mother hopes he will grow up to become a teacher. He has a known history of sickle cell disease and recently developed low blood levels that persisted for five days. His mother reported that he initially had a fever, yellowing of the eyes, and a marked loss of appetite. Due to financial challenges, he has not been taking his sickle cell medications. A friend who had previously benefited from Helpster Charity informed his mother about the organization, after which she brought him to the facility.

Ramson, a known sickle cell anemia patient, was experiencing a haemolytic crisis . He received treatment that included antibiotics, rehydration fluids, and medication for sickle cell management. Once his condition stabilized, he was discharged from the hospital to continue treatment at home. During a follow-up call from a Helpster volunteer, his mother expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the quality care and support provided by Helpster Charity.He is doing well.

Ramson’s prognosis is fair. With admission and appropriate treatment of his sickle cell crisis given, together with hydration, he is expected to recover from this episode. However, because he has not been consistently taking his medications, he remains at risk for recurrent crises, making regular follow-up and adherence to treatment crucial for his long-term health.
