Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Brian is a 7-year-old boy who enjoys singing and watching gospel music. He is an orphan living at a children’s home, which relies entirely on well-wishers for support. Brian hopes to become a teacher when he grows up. He was taken into the children’s home as an infant after his single mother passed away in the hospital following a short illness. Attempts to locate other family members have been unsuccessful. Seven days ago, a volunteer from the Children’s Home brought Brian to Rheemah Hospital after he developed rashes on both hands. They had tried using local skin ointment without success. The children’s home then contacted Rheemah Hospital for medical help. Brian was seen by a medical doctor and diagnosed with scabies.

Medical history

Brian had been experiencing rashes on both hands for two weeks. Upon evaluation, he was diagnosed with scabies. He was treated with Bioscab lotion, Amoxicillin, and Brufen/Paracetamol. After receiving treatment, he was discharged and has since made a full recovery and returned to his studies.

Prognosis

Generally excellent with appropriate treatment. While itching may persist for a couple of weeks after treatment, most cases resolve completely without long-term complications. However, severe cases, especially those with crusted scabies, may indicate a weakened immune system and require more intensive treatment.
