Maryanne is a cheerful and playful three-year-old girl who lives with her parents in Milani village. She is the youngest in a family of five. Her parents struggle with poverty, and because of this, she has not yet started school. Providing even two meals a day is difficult for the family, and most days they can only manage one, at times they do not have any meal. Maryanne was born healthy, with only minor episodes of colds and coughs. Recently, however, her parents noticed that she had lost her appetite, developed a fever with severe chills, and was passing loose stools. They gave her some painkillers at home, but her condition did not improve. A day later, she experienced more than three convulsions. At that point, her parents rushed her to Bokoli Sub-County Hospital, where she was examined and admitted for close monitoring and treatment.

Maryanne had been diagnosed with malaria with febrile convulsions and sepsis, and was treated with intravenous malaria therapy, pain relief, and rehydration therapy, including , diazepam, brufen, and amoxicillin and paracetamol for home use. As her condition improved, she was discharged to continue recovery at home. During a follow-up call, the Helpster volunteer spoke with her delighted mother, who happily shared that Maryanne had made a full recovery and was back to her usual active, playful self. She now plays and dances with other children just as she did before. Overwhelmed with gratitude, her mother said, “I thank God my daughter is back to her normal activities and can play with her friends. Without Helpster Charity Organization, she might not have survived. Thank you for restoring my daughter’s health.”

When diagnosed early and given proper treatment, , like the case of Maryanne, most children recover fully without long-term problems. Prognosis is good
