Cynthia is a 7-year-old girl currently living at a Children’s Home. She was born to parents struggling with alcoholism. Due to severe neglect, Cynthia and her siblings faced difficult conditions, and sadly, she lost two of her brothers to starvation. She and her sister were eventually rescued by a Children’s Home, where they received care and nutritional support and have since recovered from the malnutrition. Cynthia dreams of becoming a teacher one day and enjoys spending time playing with her friends. She had been in good health until two days ago when she began experiencing a headache. She was taken to Tionycare Hospital, received treatment, and has since fully recovered and is doing well.

Her headache eased, her strength returned, and within a few days, she had fully recovered - regaining her energy and returning to her normal, playful self.

Cynthia was diagnosed with Malaria. She was treated with artesunate and antibiotics. Her health has improved since treatment. She will fully recover once treatment is done. If left untreated, malaria can rapidly progress to severe illness, causing complications such as anemia, organ failure, coma, and even death especially in vulnerable groups like children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Prompt treatment is essential to prevent these life-threatening outcomes.
