Background
At 35 years old, Yeasmin Begum, a loving housewife whose greatest joy is cooking, faces a terrifying ordeal in her second pregnancy. After experiencing three days of reduced fetal movement and slight abdominal pain at 41 weeks, an urgent ultrasound revealed scanty amniotic fluid and fetal distress, requiring immediate medical intervention. Her husband, Shahidul Hawlader, a fisherman, battles the waves daily, but his meager 9,000 taka monthly income is stretched thin supporting their family of five, making the cost of life-saving treatment an impossible burden. Without urgent care, both Yeasmin and her unborn child face dire consequences, risking severe complications or even loss. Their family, including their five-year-old child, desperately needs your support to turn this impending tragedy into a story of hope and survival.
Medical history
After experiencing labor pain for over 41+ weeks, she arrived at our hospital where doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed the baby was large, with severe oligohydroamnions with fetal distress with meconium stained , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby . Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
Based on the critical diagnosis, the doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a life-saving intervention for both the mother and baby. The presence of severe oligohydramnios, fetal distress, and meconium staining indicates the baby is in immediate danger. Without urgent treatment, the baby is at a high risk of inhaling the meconium, leading to a severe and potentially fatal condition called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, which can cause lifelong respiratory problems or death. The prompt surgical delivery will bypass the dangers of a vaginal birth in this scenario, providing the best chance for the baby to be born safely and for the mother to avoid severe complications, thus securing a positive outcome and ensuring the baby's future health.
