Md. Nazmul Haque has been suffering for five months from severe throat pain, headache, and fever, and was diagnosed with a peritonsillar abscess, a serious complication of untreated tonsillitis. This condition is caused by bacterial infection leading to pus formation near the tonsil, which results in extreme pain, difficulty swallowing, trismus (inability to open the mouth), and neck swelling. If not treated promptly, the abscess can block the airway or spread infection to the lungs, chest, or brain, causing life-threatening conditions such as pneumonia, sepsis, or meningitis. Timely surgical intervention is therefore essential to save his health and prevent fatal complications.

Md. Nazmul Haque is a bright and humble 16-year-old boy who dreams of becoming a teacher one day and loves playing football after school. He lives with his poor father, step-mother, and two younger siblings, who struggle every day just to manage food and schooling expenses. For the past five months, Nazmul has been suffering from severe throat pain, headache, and fever, and doctors diagnosed him with a Peritonsillar Abscess that requires urgent surgery. Without treatment, his condition may worsen, leading to life-threatening complications and forcing him to give up his education and dreams. Since his father has no ability to pay for the surgery, the family has turned to Helpster for support in saving Nazmul’s life and future.
Medical history
Md. Nazmul Haque was admitted to the hospital on 1st August 2025, where doctors performed a tonsillectomy the same day to treat his peritonsillar abscess. The surgery was successful, and within two days he showed remarkable improvement—his pain reduced, fever subsided, and he was able to swallow and speak more comfortably. On 3rd August 2025, Nazmul was discharged with medical advice for full recovery and a healthy future. With heartfelt gratitude, Nazmul and his family thank Helpster for making his treatment possible and giving him a second chance to live, study, and pursue his dream of becoming a teacher.
Prognosis
The doctor explained that the recommended treatment for Nazmul’s peritonsillar abscess is surgical drainage followed by bilateral tonsillectomy, which will not only cure the current abscess but also prevent recurrence. With surgery, his symptoms of throat pain, fever, and swallowing difficulty will resolve, and he will be able to regain his normal health and continue his education. If the condition is left untreated, the abscess may enlarge and obstruct his airway, leading to acute respiratory distress. Furthermore, the infection can spread into the deep spaces of the neck or systemic circulation, causing life-threatening complications such as sepsis, mediastinitis, or meningitis.
