Background
Umar Alh Habu is a bright and imaginative 10 year old who enjoys playing football, storytelling, and drawing. He dreams of becoming a pilot so he can explore the world and help his community. Umar Alh Habu developed a 4-day history of cough with yellowish sputum, fever, and difficulty breathing. He was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia after examination and a chest X-ray confirmed lung infection. He was treated with antibiotics and supportive care, responded well, and was discharged in stable condition on 20th July 2025. On presentation at our hospital, Umar was evaluated and diagnosed with Community Acquired Pneumonia.
Medical history
Umar Alh Habu, a 10-year-old boy diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, was admitted on 15th July 2025. He received intravenous Ceftriaxone for 5 days and oral Azithromycin for 3 days, along with antipyretics, oxygen therapy as needed, and supportive care including hydration and nutrition. He responded well to treatment, with resolution of fever and improvement in breathing. He was discharged in stable condition on 20th July 2025 and advised to attend follow-up at the general hospital nguru.special thanks to helpster charity for the medical support.
Prognosis
The doctor’s prognosis is positive umar responded well to treatment and is expected to recover fully. However, if left untreated, the pneumonia could have led to serious complications like breathing failure, spread of infection, or even death.
