Wesley Kipkorir is a one-year-old child who lives with his mother in an extended family of eight. His mother is a small-scale farmer who grows a few varieties of vegetables, which she sells at the nearby market after harvesting, earning about 150–200 shillings daily. This modest income goes toward meeting her child's basic needs and supporting the extended family. They live in a three-room mud house with rusted iron sheets, fetch water from a stream located a 30-minute walk away, share a latrine with nearby neighbors, and rely on firewood from the nearby forest for cooking. Over the past three days, Wesley developed difficulty in breathing, a cough, and was unable to breastfeed. Concerned, his mother brought him to the health facility, where he was assessed and diagnosed with severe pneumonia. He was admitted for treatment. Upon recognizing the mother’s financial hardship, the hospital administrator enrolled the baby into the Helpster Charity program for support.

Wesley was presented to our facility unwell having difficulty in breathing, cough and sick looking condition, high fever. After assessment was done Wesley was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and was admitted for treatment for 4 days. Wesley was treated with Iv ceftriaxone 1g bid, Iv pcm 500mg tid, Iv hydrocortisone 50mg. The treatment was successful. Then Wesley was discharged home with Po azithromycin 5mls BD 1/5, Po ibrofen 5mls tid 3/7, Po cetirizine 5mls bid 1/52. After 7 days Wesley was brought to our hospital fora review. Wesley's family is very happy and thankful to Helpster Donors, Hospital Team, Helpster Volunteer.

Wesley was admitted and started on appropriate treatment, including medications and supportive care to stabilize his breathing and overall condition. With close monitoring, adherence to treatment, and supportive care, Wesley is expected to recover fully and gradually return to normal feeding, activity, and play.
