Background
Abdullahi is a 9-year-old who loves playing games with his friends and is now in the first grade because he started going to school last year. He has a big dream of becoming an engineer when he grows up. Abdullahi and his mom noticed a swelling on the right side of his scrotum, and it doesn't go away when they try to push it in. Sometimes, it also hurts. They brought him to UMD, and the doctors said he has a condition called Right Congenital Hydrocele.
Medical history
A case of right Hydrocele was admitted for surgery and the surgery was conducted successfully. He had his treatment served and has been discharged home,scheduled for follow up on 15th December,2023
Prognosis
The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
