Severe malaria is a life-threatening medical emergency caused by a parasitic infection, most commonly by the species Plasmodium falciparum. It arises when an uncomplicated malaria infection is not diagnosed or treated promptly, leading to vital organ dysfunction or other serious complications. Symptoms and Complications of Severe Malaria Severe malaria is defined by clinical or laboratory evidence of vital organ dysfunction. It can progress rapidly and lead to death within hours or days if left untreated. Symptoms and signs of severe malaria include: * Cerebral malaria: Impaired consciousness, coma, or multiple convulsions. * Severe anemia: A significant decrease in red blood cells, leading to a lack of oxygen in the body's tissues. * Acute kidney injury: Impaired kidney function. * **Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS): Fluid accumulation in the lungs, making breathing difficult. * Circulatory collapse/shock: Extremely low blood pressure. * Acidosis: An excess of acid in the body, which can be seen clinically as rapid, deep, and labored breathing. * Jaundice: Yellowing of the skin and eyes, often accompanied by a high parasite count. * Hypoglycemia: Dangerously low blood sugar. * Prostration: Extreme weakness, making the patient unable to sit, stand, or walk. Treatment of Severe Malaria Immediate and aggressive treatment is crucial for severe malaria. The recommended treatment is parenteral (intravenous or intramuscular) artesunate for at least 24 hours, or until the patient can tolerate oral medication. This is followed by a complete course of an artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT). What is "Helithesis"? The term "helithesis" does not appear to be a recognized medical or scientific term. Background
Badamasi is 5 year old boy who leave with stepmother his mother pass away since when he was born he leave at Amshi village with his stepmother and his dad his father was a farmer. He experienced fever and vomiting for about 5 days. Upon presentation of the case at our hospital he was diagnosed of Severe malaria and Helithetis However, we can discuss the severe and life-threatening nature of malaria in a child and the potential complications of Severe Malaria in a 5-Year-Old Malaria is a serious and life-threatening disease caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Children under five, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, are at the highest risk of severe malaria and death.
Medical history
Badamasi recovery continued. HE returned to playing with his friends, laughter echoing through the village.
