Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Enteric fever is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection caused by bacteria. It includes both typhoid fever and paratyphoid fever. Causes Enteric fever is caused by bacteria from the Salmonella genus. * Typhoid fever is caused by Salmonella Typhi. * Paratyphoid fever is caused by Salmonella Paratyphi A, B, or C. These bacteria are typically spread through the "fecal-oral route," meaning a person becomes infected by ingesting food or water that has been contaminated with the feces of an infected person. This often occurs in areas with poor sanitation and a lack of clean drinking water. Symptoms The symptoms of enteric fever can be gradual and often resemble a flu-like illness. They typically begin 6 to 30 days after exposure. Common symptoms include: * High fever: A fever that starts low and increases daily, sometimes reaching as high as 104.9^\circF (40.5^\circC). * Headache * Weakness and fatigue * Stomach pain * Constipation or diarrhea * Loss of appetite * Rash: Some people may develop a rash of small, flat, rose-colored spots on the chest and abdomen. In severe cases, the infection can lead to complications such as intestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation, or other serious problems. Without treatment, the illness can last for weeks or months. Treatment Enteric fever is treated with antibiotics. The specific antibiotic used may depend on the strain of bacteria and the location where the infection was acquired, as some strains have developed resistance to certain antibiotics. It is crucial to get a proper diagnosis and follow the full course of treatment to ensure the infection is completely cleared. Prevention Prevention of enteric fever is key, especially when traveling to areas where the disease is common. The main strategies for prevention include: * Vaccination: Vaccines are available for typhoid fever and are recommended for travelers to high-risk areas. * Safe food and water practices: This includes drinking bottled water or water that has been boiled, avoiding raw or undercooked foods, and practicing good hand hygiene. * Good hygiene: Thoroughly washing hands with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom and before preparing or eating food, is essential to prevent the spread of the bacteria.

Background

YUSUF is five years old who had a dream of becoming a doctor to save people lives he leave with his parents at bukarti village. He started experiencing fever , abdominal discomfort and cough and upon presentation he was diagnosed with Enteric fever. Enteric fever, commonly known as typhoid fever, in a 5-year-old boy can be a serious illness that requires prompt medical attention. While the symptoms and course of the disease can vary, here is a general overview of what might happen.

Medical history

Yusuf’s recovery progressed steadily until, at last, he returned to playing with his friends, his laughter once again filling the village air. His parents, deeply grateful to the Helpster charity and the medical team who guided him through the crisis, became dedicated advocates for sanitation and clean water initiatives in their community. His survival was rooted in the timely administration of intravenous (IV) Ceftriaxone, a potent antibiotic used to combat the systemic infection. As a primary treatment for enteric fever (typhoid), Ceftriaxone is essential for its efficacy in targeting the Salmonella Typhi bacteria, rapidly reducing the high fever and preventing life-threatening complications like intestinal perforation. This swift medical intervention provided the stability Yusuf needed to make a complete and lasting recovery.

Prognosis

Enteric fever, which includes typhoid and paratyphoid fever, is a systemic bacterial infection that can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. The prognosis, or outlook for recovery, is highly dependent on early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, but medical experts emphasize that with modern medicine, most people fully recover.
